Katla or Labeo catla, or Catla, is a major freshwater carp that holds significant economic and culinary importance in South Asia. It has a large and broad head, with a protruding lower jaw. It can grow up to an impressive length of 182 cm and weigh as much as 38 kg. Katla Maacher Jhol is one of the popular culinary preparations.
